There was a time when a new Evolution Live Casino release meant excitement — but lately, their output has been hit or miss. With Fireball Roulette, we hoped for a return to form, especially since the concept seemed fool proof: take the popular bonus round from Lightning Storm and inject it into a classic roulette format. What could go wrong? Turns out — quite a bit.
At first glance, Fireball Roulette looks the part. You’ve got the traditional roulette table, a flashy fireball bonus cage, and those all-important multipliers. But dig deeper, and issues start to flare up. For starters, there’s no 10p minimum bet option — a baffling omission when responsible gambling is supposedly a priority.
Then there’s the visual design flaw: the “Fire” numbers (similar to Lightning Roulette’s lightning numbers) completely vanish once the spin begins. If you’re playing the “Fireball Chaser” side bet, good luck figuring out which numbers you’ve covered — you’ll be squinting at the screen, round after round, and it gets frustrating fast.
Speaking of the Fireball Chaser, it mimics the “X Chaser” feature from Lightning Storm — a shortcut to the bonus if the right number hits. Sounds good in theory, but in practice, it feels like an overpriced gamble. We saw bets of £2.72 translating into as little as 60p on the actual wheel, with the rest funnelled into the side bet. That’s a steep price for a bonus that triggers rarely.
The bonus round itself is fine — essentially a clone of Lightning Storm’s high-energy bonus, capable of delivering up to a 2,500x win. It plays out as expected, but Evolution missed an opportunity to add something fresh or surprising here.
In the end, Fireball Roulette feels like another case of “what could have been.” The core idea is strong, but poor implementation and questionable design decisions let it down. The lack of low-stakes support and high-cost side bets give the impression that monetisation took priority over player enjoyment. Evolution once again delivers a flashy package — but scratches too shallow beneath the surface.
